In Reading town centre there’s a building project nearing completion called ‘The Blade’ after the huge shark like spike on the top erected for the sole purpose of making it the tallest building in a town in Berkshire beginning with the letter ‘R’.The University is demolishing and rebuilding everywhere it seems; Green Park the eco-friendly office complex is chucking up glass blocks on a weekly basis and Reading Station is being enlarged to gargantuan proportions.
The football team is about to go back up to the Premiership, Ross Brawn of Reading School is leading the Formula 1 constructors table, Ricky Gervais is one of the funniest men in the country, Kate Winslet has just got an Oscar and we’ve got a wicked wind turbine.
Reading, Berkshire is doing fine. Infact, it’s bucking the trend and growing. It’s said that you’re often cruellest to the ones closest to you – I like Reading.
