As disgusting as it was to see various councils patting their brown nosing staff on the head over how much money they’ve managed to get from the public who they seem to have forgotten pay their over inflated wages, it came as no surprise that RBC was tops in the bus lane scam and also no surprise that Tony Page wants more powers to fine more people.
In the program Page stated that nobody has a right to drive in bus lanes or stop in yellow boxes and I doubt anyone would disagree with him. What the program also showed however was how some councils sign and change restrictions/times applicable in ways that inevitably lead to motorists getting trapped in selected places where the council places ANPR cameras for the purpose of generating fine notices.
Hopefully future job cuts at Reading Borough Council will include their enforcement team and even better, Tony himself - that would save on a few thousand pounds worth of travel expenses.
