The BBC ran the story on Tuesday about the sorry state of Britain’s troop moving capacity in Afghanistan; namely, Britain has 40 Chinook helicopters of which 20 are desert compatible of which 10 are in Afghanistan of which only eight are flight worthy.Thank goodness the Taliban don’t know anyone who knows anyone who watches the BBC or else they’d know this too and then possibly start putting more of a concerted effort into Chinook hunting.
Next week the BBC is running a story on where all of our PPE and armoury is kept in Afghanistan (generally in the American stores prior to being raided by our ill-equipped personnel).
The Brown thing in charge has claimed that our troops are all talking bollocks and in reality they are the best equipped in the world. Wooton Bassett would disagree.

So MOD can purchase 200 Land Rovers for 1 Chinook.
Land Rover is British Built so its a no brainer.
Only problem is Land Rovers do not like road side bombs.
However will the Chinook provide any additional protection, they can also be shot down, and carry up to 55 Soilders.
Valid point - I'm no supporter of either Chinooks or Land Rovers going to Afghanistan however as you say, if travelling from A to B in Helmand I know which I'd rather be in.
This is all about being fit for purpose - Brown revels in being a big man in the World 'committing' our Forces (for what?) yet doesn't listen to the people on the ground who have 'been committed' - attack the messenger rather than address the message - how Labour.
