CPS - EASY ON STABBING

In the UK, the Crown Prosecution Service now predominantly view stabbing someone as a non custodial sentence, not least because a lot of the stabbers have their own problems such as poverty, drug addiction and being abused themselves as children.

In the period 2007/8, over 400 people were stabbed a week, of which 277 people were stabbed to death in England and Wales for which only 2 people got the maximum 4 years imprisonment, the majority of the rest got suspended sentances or community service orders.

In London, you now stand a greater chance of being stabbed than being injured in a road accident.

So if you’re about to be stabbed, you’re better off using your last minutes of having unpierced flesh on a Navman looking for the nearest A&E rather than calling for help from the Police – because to them, you’re just more bloody paperwork (don’t blame them, blame the CPS).

Scare mongering? Use you rights of Freedom of Information – ask your local Magistrates Court: Of all the people convicted of stabbing someone in 2008 – what percentage received a suspended sentence or criminal service order? – you’ll be horrified.
