POLICE ARE SHAFTED

Jacqui Smith the Home Secretary can only pray that she’s not in need of a Police Officer at this moment in time.

Calls for the right to strike and for Jacqui Smith’s resignation followed a vote of no confidence in her abilities and the Force claiming that she has betrayed them.

£21,500 buys you a starter bobby in England and you only have to go as far as Scotland to find other countries valuing the job more generously, but it’s not about the money or the actual rise in take-home that the 2.5% rise asked for would bring.

The government has decided to link the Police request in the public’s mind with pay awards pertaining to other vocations and public sector worker as in the nurses, fire-fighters and ambulance crews. Not content to blame the Police for a potential reduction in funds to them, they have also stated that by paying the Police the 2.5%, they (the existing officers) would be responsible for denying the country an additional eight hundred officers in the future.

Thames Valley Police loses one experienced, trained officer every three days, mostly to the Metropolitan Force which was confirmed by the Thames Valley Police Federation; TVP is now one of the least trained areas due to this leaching of ‘experienced on the job’ officers.
