Unsubstantiated rumours that Pedigree Pet Foods are sponsoring the Grand
National in future years have yet to be confirmed by Mars Confectionary.
It’s common knowledge that a good Grand National can produce
between 1100 and 1600 kg of horse meat per race and that’s an awful lot of
cat/dog food and being top class pedigree flesh that’s very tempting for any
manufacturer of doggie treats.
Further rumours that a rival pet food manufacturer had
already bought the rights to the horse meat and intended to use the advertising
slogan ‘as seen at Aintree’ were also denied by the industry.
