GRUNDON
When I was a seven year old child I saw a company on the
Gosbrook Road in Caversham called Grundon that collected rubbish. Everyone
called a skip a ‘Grundon’ and from that day on I always wanted to work for them.
Long before the cheap French companies entered the UK waste
market Grundon ruled the roost in Berkshire, they were great, they were British
and they were cutting edge.
Family run and very independent, the company set trends
in waste collection with the introduction of the drop front skip, the Garwood front end
loader, the Anchorpac compactor and the SSI Schaefer wheelie bin.
Then it all started going a bit Pete Tong.

Grundon is the most successful privately owned waste management company in Britain - fact.
I have nothing but respect for Grundon - I didn't know that a skip was called anything other than a 'Grundon' until I was about fifteen years old.
