India, a country with it's own nuclear weapons; a country with an economy half as big again as Britain; a country with more billionaires and millionaires than the UK; a country that is openly in a race with China to capture the moon's treasure of helium 3 and only recently sent a £50 million rocket into space in the latest phase of its space program which has been running for thirty years - is doing very nicely thank you.Unfortunately, all this space hardware isn't cheap and what with the next mission scheduled for 2011, something has to give. Luckily for rich Indians, the country is based upon a caste system which means that there are plenty of poor untouchables that can go without stuff like food to help fund the budding Brahman Lightyears of the nation.
So alls well and good, unless of course you happen to be a low caste Indian or a British taxpayer as the Labour Party has agreed to fund the poor of India by taking British taxpayers money and giving £753,000 of it - per day - every day to India for the next three years which means that the one thousand plus scientists playing rocketman can continue to let their poor die without guilt - that's £753,000 per day, everyday of British taxpayers money.
