I HOPE I AM WRONG

With the increased security at the World’s airports, it’s inevitable that Al Qaeda will have been looking at less well defended targets for the past few years.

Clearly a high kill rate, the disruption of a global industry and a hit designed to cause maximum cost would point to another mode of transport, namely a cruise ship on the lines and size of the new Queen Vicroria or ‘The World’ would be favourite.

With the added advantage of being able to build the bomb over a period of time carried on board in many bits by many people, the placing of the device would need to be against the hull as low as possible in order to cause sinking as quickly as possible.

In order to place the device, sleepers would need to be on-baord months if not years ahead of the explosion in positions of trust such as engineers, mechanics or officers. I hope that the various cruise lines have all their security in place – I doubt they have and regret that the sinking of a large new ship or worse, the hijacking of a vessel prior to sinking it is only a matter of time.
