Chip and pin debit card protection has now been proven to be about as secure as a British Intelligence interrogation report. All of the banks have acknowledged that it’s easily by-passed (Cambridge University findings) and that none of their customers are safe from fraud but ‘it’s an industry problem’ so the general public can get stuffed.The main reason for changing to chip and pin in the first place was so that the banks (who were often held liable for fraudulent credit/debit card abuse because Elmer Fudd in the shop didn’t check the signature) could now blame us for the card abuse as ‘we obviously gave our pin number to someone else – you prove you didn’t.
So when you get a bill for something you didn’t buy and you’ve never been near the Burkina Faso sex emporium in Ouagadougou blame chip and pin technology even though the bank will blame you.
