Next to the main traffic lanes across Reading, Berkshire is the rapidly expanding network of alternative priority lanes for buses, the illiterate and stupid people – these will be referred to as ‘vacant’ lanes from hereon in.You sit there at the lights for seemingly hours before they change, then change back again before one car driver manages to disengage their handbrake, to let a bus through with two people on it (one’s driving) in the vacant lane followed by a weaving tit on a moped (natural selection will out eventually) and a bloke in an old Cavalier.
These lanes serve six purposes; a way of fining people for:- crossing them, driving in them, stopping in them, turning in them, parking in them and lastly to facilitate the flow of empty buses. What is the point of keeping an empty bus to schedule at the expense of all other traffic?
As bus users it’s frustrating when a bus is cancelled, not running to time or simply dropped from a schedule, all the worse when you’ve got Eastern Europeans begging for money every bus, same stop, every day. Working out a bus schedule must be a piece of piss yet Reading Buses are still crap at it and it’s the only thing they do! If a baker couldn’t make dough he’d be sacked?
Wokingham B.C. score equally badly with the Black Boy roundabout skilfully painted to confuse everyone under twenty, over fifty, in a van or a ‘mum’s taxi’ carrying young children.
It’s common knowledge that RBC is incompetent in the fields of waste management and child care and that a ring road brought their brightest brains to the point of mental breakdown – so why do we pay for such low standards?
With the removal of the current appalling bunch of chancers in government and in turn everything ‘Labour’ in Reading Borough Council – can we please get back to common sense planning and thinking? – it’s been sorely missed of late!
