RBC, the council that’s so fucking stupid it can’t design a ring road is losing it’s daily newsletter (cunningly disguised as a local paper) The Evening Post which is to be reduced to a local litter problem with a couple of editions per week containing the job section interplayed with advertising.Residents of Reading, Berkshire greeted the bombshell news that the ‘daily paper’ is being discontinued with displays of total disinterest.
The paper, famous for its almost fanatical use of pathetic play on word headlines such as “Jemma’s eggcited over chickens” will not vacate its Tessa Road premises and the square metre where the bloke who needs a shave sits outside Boots in Broad Street.
In a market generally acknowledged to be declining thanks in the main to internet advertising drawing larger proportions of reducing advertising budgets, ‘the Post’ managed to increase circulation by just under six per cent throughout 2008; that’s impressive even though they did start giving the paper away free.
All in all it’s not been a very good few months for Reading Borough Council. Caught prevaricating over recycling statistics to cover up the fact that they are one of the worst recycling council in the United Kingdom and found wanting in their appalling and incompetent child care departments, the resident hating authority is urgently looking for additional sources of income from residents.
Expect more moped riding traffic wardens, parking fines, increased parking permit charges, higher waste collection fees and bigger demands on your wallet in general when coming into contact with anything that’s got ‘Reading Borough Council’s’ colours on it; talking of which.
Reading Borough Council used to be burgundy. The vans were burgundy, their logo that looks like a machine gun post was burgundy but now, they’re anything that’s cheap. The dustcarts, vans and cars are green, white, red infact:- Richard of York gave battle in vain. RBC is running cheap.
