The old system of getting one’s sprog into the school of choice allowed for people with money to move close to the desired establishment for virtually guaranteed acceptance. This system however favoured people with money so was deemed unfair to people less well off.

So the lottery system is being rolled out and even if you live next door to the school of choice you could still be sending your sprog miles away to get educated. Accusations of this method being unfair have been met with the answer that there will be an appeal system; however this would benefit articulate intelligent people and has been deemed unfair to people less savvy.

In conclusion, people who have money and are articulate and intelligent (for argument sake let’s call them well educated) have a better chance in life than thick poor folk. What’s the problem? Darwin could get his head round this in 1832 so why anyone has a problem with it now surprises me.
